Do dogs really drink radiator coolant?
Yes they do. Unfortunately, dogs like the sweet taste and smell of radiator coolant. It is highly toxic, causing a dog's kidneys to shut down. It's important to make sure your car isn't leaking coolant. You should also be careful to clean up any coolant that may have leaked or spilled, and carefully seal and store any unused portion of coolant.

What can I do about a dog that is constantly scratching himself?
Your dog may have seasonal allergies, parasites, or even a skin infection. A veterinarian can recommend many different types of treatments for your dog.

How can I cure my dog of biting when we play?
The most important thing to remember is not to reinforce the behavior with continued play. When the dog exhibits undesired behavior, in this case playful biting, stop playing and ignore the animal for five minutes. You may also consider using a shaker can (such as a pop bottle filled with pennies) or putting vinegar on the parts of your skin the dog bites. You should also provide alternative play, such as running after a ball or tugging on a rope. Finally, be consistent. If playful biting is okay one day, and frowned on another day, the animal will not understand.

Why does my dog destroy things when I am gone?
Some animals suffer from separation anxiety. To help prevent such anxiety, try practice separation by leaving your home for short periods of time, such as 15 minutes, to get the animal used to your leaving. When you return, give your dog lots of attention. Your veterinarian may be able to recommend other treatments and books about separation anxiety, and help you with any possible medication that might be required if you know you are going to be away for a particularly long time.

What do I do about a dog that constantly urinates?
This may be a sign of a behavioral problem or a medical problem, such as an infection. It should be taken very seriously and checked by a veterinarian.

Are rawhide chews dangerous?
Rawhide chews are generally pretty harmless. The problems come when dogs swallow them whole. They either choke on the chews or the rawhide balls up in the stomach and causes gastritis or blockage. Moderation is the key. One rawhide chew every once in a while is OK, but they shouldn't be included as a regular toy or part of the diet. In addition it's usually best to supervise or at least be nearby when your pet is chewing on any toy.

Is it true that dogs don't sweat?
Dogs do sweat. They just sweat differently than humans. Dogs sweat through their pads and feet. Their main method of ridding themselves from heat, however, is by panting. For these reasons, you need to take great care to protect your dog from heat stroke. Dogs with compromised respiration, like bulldogs and pugs, are at a very high risk of easily overheating just because they can't pant very efficiently.
