Town & Country

By Jim Bruce

At Cobalt Moon I created a character that wrote movie reviews from the perspective of a twelve-year-old boy.  Sometimes he would review the actual movie; sometimes he would only review the trailer because he didn’t have the eight dollars it takes to go see a movie

Sample character review.

Do you like to be scared?  Are you looking for an edge of your seat, cover your eyes horror film?  If so “Town & Country” is for you.  It stars Warren Beatty, Goldie Hawn and that lady who always wears glasses.  You may remember Warren Beatty for all his old movies where he played a playboy, like “Shampoo” and “Top Hat”.  You may remember that lady who wears glasses for being in movies with that guy who wears glasses and dates his daughters.  You may remember Goldie Hawn for being rebuilt over, and over by doctors, much like the six million dollar man.

The plot seems to revolve around a bunch of ridiculously old people taking off their clothes and having sex with other old people.  And if that isn’t scary enough, Gary Shandling is also in the film.  Jenna Elfman is in the film, which makes for an interesting plot twist as she is young, good looking, and has sex with nobody in the movie.  I heard a rumor that Jack Lemmon was originally going to play the Beatty part, but backed out because of scheduling conflicts.

If you plan on seeing it in the theatre, I recommend buying a nice big bucket of popcorn, a soda and some candy.  Then sit back and relax.  I also recommend dumping the popcorn out.  You’ll probably need a big empty bucket.  I know I did.
